Ingredients

For the Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Cooking Sauce

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Mashed Potatoes

  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, egg, salt, and pepper. Form into meatballs.
  • Mix gently until the ingredients are combined, then shape the mixture into evenly sized meatballs.

Cooking the Meatballs

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the meatballs until browned on all sides.
  • Turn them carefully as they cook so each side develops a golden-brown crust.
  • Pour in beef broth and simmer until meatballs are cooked through, about 15 minutes.

Preparing the Mashed Potatoes

  • Boil the chopped potatoes until tender, about 15 minutes.
  • Drain and return to pot.
  • Add milk, butter, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper to the potatoes.
  • Mash until smooth and creamy.

Serving

  • Serve the meatballs over the garlic herb mashed potatoes, drizzled with the cooking sauce.
  • Spoon plenty of the savory sauce over the meatballs and potatoes for the best flavor.

Notes

Mix the meatball ingredients gently to avoid dense meatballs. Shape meatballs into similar sizes for even cooking. Mash the potatoes while hot for the best texture. Can garnish with extra fresh parsley and serve with a side salad or vegetables.
