Preparation

  • In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it’s warm but not boiling.
  • Whisk in the cocoa powder and sugar until fully dissolved.
  • Add the chopped chocolate and stir until melted and smooth.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with whipped cream and marshmallows. Serve warm.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a mix of milk and cream. You can also drizzle chocolate sauce over the whipped cream for extra sweetness. Store leftover hot chocolate in the refrigerator and reheat before serving.
