  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped chocolate or chocolate chips Experiment with dark, milk, or white chocolate.
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

  • In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it's warm but not boiling.
  • Whisk in the cocoa powder and sugar until fully dissolved.
  • Add the chopped chocolate and stir until melted and smooth.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with whipped cream and marshmallows. Serve warm.

Notes

Store any leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Reheat on the stove or in the microwave. Add flavors like peppermint or almond extract for a twist.
