For the Shortcake

  • 1 Batch Shortcake Store-bought or homemade.
  • 1 cup Whipped Cream Can be homemade or store-bought.

Instructions

Preparation of Strawberry Topping

  • In a medium skillet over medium heat, combine the sugar, vanilla, and strawberries. Stir gently to coat the strawberries with sugar.
  • Heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved and a syrup forms.
  • Pour the strawberries into a bowl with the juice and allow them to cool.

Assembly

  • Take each shortcake and fill it with whipped cream, creating a soft, creamy layer inside each.
  • Top with the strawberry mixture, spooning both the strawberries and some of the thickened juice over the whipped cream.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture.

Notes

Store the strawberry mixture, whipped cream, and shortcakes separately in the refrigerator. Assemble just before serving to prevent sogginess.
